Spend some time exploring the town centre and you will find some lovely shops, selling everything from antiques to specialist wine. With so many local independents, Caistor is a great place to pick up a gift, entirely unique to the area.

If you want to grab a bite to eat, you will also find a number of independent eateries in Caistor. Pop in to a café for a cuppa and a slice of cake, or head to the local pub for a homecooked meal. Steeped in history, The White Hart in Caistor dates back to 1189 – if only those walls could talk!

If you want to delve deeper into the history of the town, the Caistor Heritage Trail is a great place to start.  

With Roman ruins, medieval churches and Georgian housing, Caistor is certainly a town with a story to tell. A key site in the Lincolnshire Rising, this remarkable place has faced rebellion, been hit by the plague and ravaged by fire.

The Caistor Heritage Trail will give you the opportunity to learn more about the town’s tragedies and triumphs, with plenty of amazing architecture to admire along the way.

If you want to venture further afield, there are a number of walking trails which will take you out into the Lincolnshire Wolds. The Viking Way runs through the centre of Caistor, so you can easily visit neighbouring towns and villages – or simply head for the hills!

Due to its rural location, Caistor is a hotspot for leisure pursuits. As well as walking routes, you can expect to find a whole host of sporting activities on offer. Fishing, shooting and horse riding are all popular past times here, and there are plenty of cycling routes nearby.
 

Caistor in Bloom

Taking place every spring, Caistor in Bloom is part of a national horticulture campaign by the Royal Horticultural Society.

As part of the RHS ‘Britain in Bloom’ campaign, local volunteers work tirelessly to create stunning floral displays across Caistor.

Every year, hundreds of people flock to the town, as hanging baskets and flower beds are specially curated for the event. Locals also have the opportunity to open their own gardens to visitors, who are invited to take a look around and admire the blooms.

As part of the event, Caistor Parish Church also take the opportunity to host a garden party fundraiser, where you can enjoy an afternoon of fun and games – and get to know the community.
