This ride from Market Rasen takes you mainly on fairly flat terrain with only one major climb to cycle up. The ride takes you through Middle Rasen, Osgodby, Claxby, Holton le Moor, Moortown, Nettleton and Walesby following mainly quiet country roads and lanes. There is one a short stretch on the A46 where care needs to be taken.

The route first takes you close to the entrance to the Wolds and then away again, only to allow you to climb to the top of the ridge further on in the ride. Nettleton Hill is reputed to be the most challenging hill in the Lincolnshire Wolds and being like a lot of the hills in this area is short but punchy. You begin the climb in the village and continue to climb for 0.75 miles (1.2km)with the last hundred metres or so ramping up to 15%.

Getting to the top is what this ride is all about. From the top you can see a huge chunk of West Lindsey spread out before you and, as an added bonus at the very top, you are very close to the highest point in Lincolnshire. The descent down Walesby Hill is fast and exhilarating.
